Haven't been for 5 years, never changed my call sign but in Nashville now.

That being said, STL has a VERY solid food scene

BBQ: Pappys or Sugarfire both are +++

Italian: Pastaria in Clayton

French: Brasserie

Seafood: Peacemaker

New Orleans style Seafood and GREAT TIME: Broadway Oyster Bar

All of those were money. BBQ spots and Broadway Oyster Bar are my absolute favorites.

What part of STL are you going to be in... moved here about a year and a half ago - live in Lake St. Louis.

Annie Gunn's is top notch for steak in Chesterfield... Noto's off the 364 for authentic Neopolitan wood-fired pizza & Italian...
The Hill would be a good place to go for other Italian options, but don't know the status after Covid... restaurant owners in STL county are ready to lynch Sam Page for his restrictions while just across the river it's wide open.

We'll be staying downtown. Only going to be there for a couple of days so it will be a quick trip.

All of those locations I sent are within 10-15 minutes of DT.

Good recs from STLhog.

If you're into beer, check out Urban Chestnut's beer hall in the Grove. German-style beer hall atmosphere with pretty awesome food.

Side Project also has really nice beer. Atmosphere is meh.

4 Hands is excellent as well and has some nice taprooms.

Rooster is good for breakfast.

Bailey's Range: same food group as above. Shakes and burgers.

Olio: small plates, wine bar, good atmosphere

Elaia: sister restaurant to above. Excellent fine nouveau

Nixta: sister restaurant to above two. Mexican theme.

Strange Donuts: most places have this type of donut place (like Voodoo), but this one is a pretty solid take.

As was said: the St. Louis food and beverage scene is pretty damned awesome.
