In my opinion the only thing holding Mac Jones back, among stuff that is not essential to his core ability, is a relatively low number of starts. A lot of NFL GMs like to see a QB with at least 2 regular seasons (24 starts) but Mac only has 17 starts. I think the fact he was a 4th year Junior alleviates some of those concerns. He doesn't quite have 2 full seasons of starts but he spent 4 years in a program with good quarterback coaching around a couple of other NFL draft picks in the QB room.

Trask and Jones are pretty comparable in my opinion. In college, Trask's slightly bigger frame and weight allowed him to be a decent runner but that will almost be a complete non-factor in the pro game.

What's to gain by coming back? He was so far along with his schooling and coming in with Tua's class was I'm sure determining factors. Kyler Murray bumped around from TAMU to Oklahoma to playing behind Baker for quite a while. He has that magical season and he was gone. Mac is going to keep surprising people by the looks of things. But at this point the jokes on everyone else.
