Sark hasn’t been a good head coach in his career so honestly hiring him and expecting him to bring that university back to prominence is nothing more than a shot in the dark. Same with Kiffin. Both are extremely good offensively, but when they are responsible for everything they have struggled so far. We will see, but that hire isn’t because of Jimbo. If they were going to hire someone because of Jimbo they would have big dicked and went for an actual head coach that they know is capable.

You hit the nail on the head.

These guys are being hired for their offensive acumen and expecting it to translate into head coaching genius.

It takes everything they have just to get their offenses clicking. While Sark is the head coach, I guarantee you that Sark will *not* have an offense at Texas like Bama's even if he had the same personnel.

What helps to make these guys successful when they *are* at Alabama is that Nick Saban has a structure in place where these "gurus" can focus on one thing and succeed at it at a super-elite level.

This is why guys like Kirby and Kiffin are not winning on the big stage. Kirby (if given enough time), I think can get there. So can Lane but it will take them years.

Unfortunately for Sark, he may not have enough time at Texas to build up to the program they're expecting (Bama level and beyond) within 2-3 years. Sark simply is not Saban 2007 but he will get paid. I think he's ultimately ok with that. I wish him the best.

Sark turned Washington around pretty quickly. People forget that they were winless the year before Sark.

He didn’t have a ton of success at USC but we all know he was battling alcoholism there.
