I tried to warn people back then also. But all people would ever say was Alabama/Saban was scared, that the HUNH would end Saban etc.

But the thing they all didn't seem to understand is that when something works, others are going to do it also. And when better teams start doing it, it's going to be more extreme. So it really is always a question of - is this what you want football to be?

And the part that goes unsaid in these highlights - much of why people wanted it is because the thought it would end Saban.

Meanwhile, some are still trying to do it now with scholarship reductions. Guess what, it's going to hurt the smaller programs worse.
