Well lets see if there is anything Mullen may have done in recent history that would upset his AD....

2019:

-His highest rated recruit ever transfers after only a couple months on campus because Mullen denied his request to change dorm rooms after the kid and his parents told Mullen they were uncomfortable with him living with his roommate who was soon accused of sexual assault in that dorm room by two women. A mass wave of transfers and de-commitments soon follows in a very publicly embarrassing fashion.

2020:

-Lose to aTm on the road, blame it on crowd noise, and subsequently throw your AD under the bus by demanding that he allow 90k in the Swamp the following game in the middle of a pandemic.

-The following game he starts a brawl at halftime by storming aggressively towards the refs midfield. After the brawl is broken up he comes back out of the tunnel to further agitate the situation, pumping his hands in the air to the crowd.

-Has his team in a position to have the SEC title game be a playoff qualifier, only to be inexplicably unprepared to beat an LSU team with a losing record the week prior. Gator Nation is further embarrassed by an undisciplined shoe throwing incident playing a large role in the loss.

-Loses to Alabama in the SEC title game and then completes the 3 game losing streak with a blowout loss to OU. Bizarrely states in the presser that Alabama was the last game with his 2020 team, that he could have opted out of the OU game, etc, implying that he didn't even care about OU, and viewed it as a practice game for his 2021 team.

-Committed recruiting violations serious enough that the NCAA slaps him with a 1 year "show-cause" penalty.

-Finishes 2020 8-4 with only one win against a team with a winning record (UGA without JT Daniels), yet speaks to media, boosters, and fans with a sense of arrogance as if he's an untouchable legend, unworthy of his attention.

-Interviews for NFL jobs he's not even certain to be offered or accept, almost as a way of reminding the UF AD, boosters, and fans of how desired he is.

This should be rephrased to “publicly begging for NFL jobs via back channels and his agent without any evidence of actually getting a single interview anywhere.”

This is arguably more embarrassing than the blatant attempt to strong arm the UF AD into a raise.
