The 80s? Are you talking about the decade where UF set a NCAA record with something like 102 violations? That lone SEC you talk about. Wasn’t it vacated by the SEC because of rampant cheating? Not only on the field but off as well. Wasn’t there a UF QB involved in a gambling operation. UF wasn’t embarrassed by any of these issues apparently. I recall treats of lawsuits and awarding Charlie Pell a Cadillac as he was kicked out the door because the school couldn’t take the heat any longer.
The Gators were nothing before the 90s and haven’t been anything but.a study in amazingly bad coaching hires for years. Even the so called “successful” Coaches have issues. Urban the Cryer’s teams totally lacked character and discipline. Two murderers on the same team. That has to be some type of record. I personally hope UF keeps Mullin. He is no real threat to my team in recruiting or on the field. His antics are very entertaining to non Gator fans. And that 4 loss season is really funny when you consider how Gators were strutting around just a month ago. Maybe the other SEC schools could chip in for an extension of his contract. The laughs alone would be worth the $
