It doesn't make any sense which makes me think there is a possibility this is a long con and Freeze has always been the guy.

The real power brokers are setting up all these interviews as a smoke screen. They play it off like they were spurned by everyone who is a serious candidate. They already have a tentative deal with Freeze in place. The boosters who were apprehensive about hiring him due to "ethical" concerns panic and do a 180.

Personally, I think he would be a the best possible hire for them. He is also the only potential candidate I would not be happy with as a Georgia fan. He would be a pain in the arse to deal with from day 1, especially with recruiting.

It’s not a conspiracy. Auburn fired their coach without a plan in place and now they are suffering the consequences. There is no reason for them to put up a front of incompetence in some sort of long con to bring Freeze in. In reality they are just bungling the search and we all get to watch. Trust me, we did the same thing a few years ago
