We're going to have 4 undefeated teams not going to the playoff. That ruins a regular season much more.

Take out the championship games, and then go to 16 ... Easy ...

Using this year as a basis for designing a playoff system is terrible of course.
I'll take keeping the regular season highly meaningful every year over making it so stupidly big the entire regular season is nothing but a seeding contest.

There's probably 4 or more other teams who'd also be undefeated with their schedules.
