re: You are hiring a coach in 2020, what are they key characteristics you want?

I think expectations are impossible to live up to in this sport. People think their new coach should have a magic wand that instantly repairs systemic problems. They want it as cheap as possible and every time the guy loses, people will question his pay. They want a guy young enough to relate to the kids, but experienced enough to win immediately without the learning curve faced by young coaches.

I would want a proven track-record of winning the right way. I would want a person whose personal life is virtually unmarred. And I would want a guy who has a good list of people willing to come with him who are highly regarded in their area of expertise.
