Everything helps.

Damn. Thanks for spreading the word. Something like this really does put your own life/problems into perspective.

what in the actual hell. Says he put her to bed after knee surgery and came back to her dead. I can't even fathom something like that.

Chicken removed the link. Generally fundraising is prohibited on the site, but he let it run because of the circumstances.

Data fought off covid earlier this year, too. Was hospitalized for some time.
Terrible situation.

What is the Go Fund Me link? I never actually saw it.

The mods took it down because technically, fundraising is against the TOC's on this site. They left it up until it hit the goal.
I still have it in my cache and it's sitting at just under $22k.

Data has always seemed like a good guy to me but as an ER Nurse this is disturbing. Anyone who is that severely dehydrated would be admitted, at the very least for what is called 23 hr observation. Anyone who is admittedly or even remotely suspected of being suicidal or is having suicidal ideations would be Bakers Acted, or involuntarily committed and held for 72 hrs for evaluation. Any physician, PA or NP who fails to do so is risking their license and is failing to provide the minimum standard of care.
Seems odd how many times he repeated himself regarding the GoFundMe link as well.
I'm certainly not accusing him of being deceitful by any means. Had I verbalized the thoughts I was having when my child died I would have been Bakers Acted immediately and with good reason bc I was absolutely having suicidal ideations. I'm sure I rambled as well bc organizing my thoughts under those circumstances was basically impossible. Whatever the case may be, I wish him well.
ETA: Also seems odd Chicken pulled the original thread. When Owl had his stroke not all that long ago and a thread was started to raise funds to help him, it was pinned at the top of the page on tOTL and remained there for several weeks.
ETA2: Also fwiw, once Chicken has verified the info he almost always will allow the link to the gofundme to remain up regardless of whether or not the goal amount was raised yet. I certainly hope nobody would be less than truthful regarding a situation like that. He's always seemed like an above-board dude to me so I choose to believe that he's telling the truth. I can't help but wonder why he didn't approach his church for help, tho. He's often spoken of his deep belief in God so I'd assumed he had a home church. Also funeral homes will allow direct donations to them so that ppl know there is no deceitful intent but as I said before, often thoughts are anything but organized in the face of such an enormous loss.
ETA3: I think I see why Chicken pulled the gofundme link. He asked for verification in the original thread and was told to find "Carri Carroll" on FB bc that is Data's wife's page. (I feel comfortable supplying her name since it is in the other thread where Chicken requested verification and it was not deleted by him) Data has always said his name is "David." In the most recent post on FB from her acct, there is a post stating that the message being posted is by her husband "Eric" stating Carri passed away and that it would be the last post ever made from her page. It may have caused Chicken concern that he's always said his name is David yet the person in the FB post stating he is her husband is named Eric. (Would like to point out that the email he provided was "decarroll", however. Stands to reason the abbreviation is for David Eric Carroll.)

A lot of speculation surrounding the entire post over there. They are hammering him and for their sake I hope it doesn’t turn around and bite them. I would feel like dog crap if I talked smack to a man who just lost his wife calling him out just to find out it’s true.

A 43 year old woman named Carrie Carroll did indeed die and will be buried on 12/15. Husband is Eric Carroll. The OP stated Commander Data is David Carroll. I don't know for sure if this is real or a scam.
