To clarify, I don't give a rat's sack that he paid the kid to go to LSU. I just find it funny that your coach can get caught on wiretap discussing the scheme, and your argument is "well, the scheme existed, and while it might appear to have worked since he came to LSU, we never really executed the scheme." Beyond a reasonable doubt (which is much higher standard) doesn't mean beyond all conceivable stupid defenses. Reasonable people are allowed to draw inferences from the available information.

I don’t think any LSU fan thinks he didn’t mean exactly what is pretty obvious in that wiretap. The question has always been can the NCAA find the paper trail to show money being paid out. Of course it’s reasonable to hear that and use pretty basic common sense to know exactly what was going on. Any LSU fan denying that is dumb or fricking with you. Saying “prove it” is exactly what the NCAA has to do to be able to punish LSU. They can’t punish LSU based solely on that recording.
