I'm not fool enough to believe you can bring the infection rate to zero by wearing masks. That was never the intent. But there's no point in debating the effectiveness vs ineffectiveness of masks when a significant portion of the population is still hosting or attending superspreaders on a regular basis. Bars, restaurants, funerals, weddings, political rallies, and so forth, where people are likely to ignore social distancing and un-mask, completely negate any arguments against mask wearing based on rising numbers of infections. It's like someone drilling holes in a boat hull then saying bilge pumps are useless and ineffective. The entire premise of your argument is just like that boat hull. Full of holes.
Now, on the other hand, if you have enough people in that boat, that are willing to work for the common good, you can keep that boat afloat. All it takes is for everyone to stick their fingers in the holes. You will still get some water seeping in, but you will slow the leaks down enough so that the pump can keep up. Will anyone be inconvenienced? Absolutely! After all, you can't operate an iPhone when you have your fingers stuck in a hole. But at least no one drowns. Don't make the mistake of getting distracted by the politics or whatever. Wear the mask. Wash your hands. Social distance. Take the vaccine. It would be a shame to lose your life or the life of a loved one when the end of the war is so near.

Here's where your analogy falls apart. It's not people "being inconvenienced" by the lockdown on bars, restaurants, etc. It's family businesses. Livelihoods. Nest eggs and retirements being destroyed overnight. All so you can "feel safe" as you play God with your pseudoscience.

It's not an inconvenience. Suicide rates are through the roof. Deaths from other causes are up because hospitals have gone full retard and are behind on treating other issues. Economies and livelihoods are being destroyed. Mental illness and depression have grown exponentially. All of these measures are causing problems that we won't shake for decades. They are MUCH worse than the virus that has a >97% survival rate for the elderly and a >99% survival rate for everyone else.

90% of people are wearing masks as required
CDC says if 80% of people wear masks, virus will be contained.
Danish study shows infection among mask wearers and non wearers statistically insignificant
Most people who have caught COVID claim to be mask wearers.
So, from this, we are doing more than the CDC suggested and cases are still rising.
