Not many folks here remember the debacle that was hiring Les. His first recruiting class had 15 players and (at the time) was only salvaged by landing Perriloux

That was in the earlier internet days when as a college kid I basically only knew a bunch of stuff about Auburn and Tennessee (because I hated them), so I wasn't around to see LSU reactions to hiring Les.

But, I gotta think hiring a Midwestern guy that went 28-21 at Oklahoma State and was coming off a 7-5 season was not exactly garnering high fives and fist pumps

There were people calling for his head after he lost to Tennessee his first year. That’s the year we were up 21-0 at half and they came back to beat us 27-30 in OT.

I thought it was 12. But yeah Perrilloux, iirc, flipped on signing day kind of out of nowhere. And, damn, after Les lost to Tennessee, it was bad
