"Defending Champion is a team that has won the competition in the previous year and now is defending the title. Defending means protecting their title . The defending in team is the Champion until anyother team becomes the champion".

I agree that if this season is canceled due to covid and we do not have a champion then my fellow LSU fans cannot claim "defending champion" specially after our pitiful season.
The same can be said for a past champion, Bama has many past championships as does LSU.

Since the BCS started and now moved to CFP we have a undisputed champion every year and not a champion crowned by the media.
