Of course it was about money and adding the Missouri markets was just the opposite of "thinking big"

Once the SEC decided to add Texas A&M and Missouri, a network was a foregone conclusion.
Are you really trying to tell there's no SECN if Missouri isn't
added instead of a UNC,NC State,VT,Clemson or Oklahoma? No idea why you continually miss this point.

Every one of those 9.5 million cable and satellite households would end up with the SEC Network on its basic tier.
And a WHOPPING 2 million of the 9.5 are coming from MISSOURI.Stop
the presses! Are you REALLY basing these numbers off a Clay Travis article written NINE years
ago? Most of the article is nothing more than speculation and I can promise you there are far less cables and satallite customers than there were nine years ago with cord cutting.
quote:
You really think Slive and his baws didn't run numbers or think this through?
Yes,they were way too hasty in picking Missouri. LINK
quote:
The SEC had proclaimed time and time again that they could stand at 13 for the moment and not break a sweat. Acquiring a 14th member that is the right fit for the SEC culture is a million times more important than doing so quickly and risking a bad choice.
So why jump into something so significant with such haste? Why chance making a wrong decision when it's the future of not just one, but 13 other universities that you put in jeopardy? For a conference that has been the stronghold of football logic for generations, why is it now that decision-making starts to get a bit shaky?

Think big picture
Expanding into a slow/no growth state that has minimal interest in CFB and a team that has no national following is just the opposite of thinking big.

Gawd, stop already. They’re here and they’re staying. They’re a great addition and if you’re worried about yankees, look no further than Florida, Atlanta and South Carolina. They’ve become over-run with them. Start thinking America instead of the South. The war has been over for 156 years.
