Nebraska is a great place, but relying on what worked 20 - 30 years ago is killing that program. I remember going on my visit, they were the first to use field turf in their facilities, plus they were years ahead of other schools with their nutrition and exercise physiology programs.

They've had a lot of different faces running the program since Osborne. They even tried to hire Osborne back as part of the leadership to try and resuscitate the patient. They've tried the power approach and they've tried all kinds of spread principles. What they haven't done is recruit like an elite.

My only personal observation from afar is that its getting impossible to recruit the Southeastern players to these more northern terrains. It's not just Nebraska, a lot of B1G teams can't pillage-the-village like days of yesteryear.

Frost will just have to do it with great coaching. He had better keep Tom Osborne on speed dial.

I just don’t see Nebraska coming back elite. USC can do it with the right hire. Need institutional commitment. Washington can be a great job.

Nebraska has to realize who they are and adapt to that. The HC has to have a eye for diamonds in the rough. The Walk-On program is being brought back but the issue with high schools is a concerning one. Wisconsin is the kind of program Nebraska can achieve ironically.
