Dont think we're gonna turn back. I think today's fans clearly favor high octane offenses and that translates into higher ratings and more money. I personally loved watching those defensive battles in the 70's and 80's and even our UGA team
from 2002 and there's far more strategy than folks realize in those games but I dont think I represent the majority of fans watching on TV.

Not necessarily saying you are wrong because we are both speculating, but I remember a time when receivers were putting sticky junk all over themselves to make it easier to catch and grip the football. Rules quickly changed (For a lot of reasons, not the least of which the sticky got the footballs so gunked up they were almost unusable).

I am with you. I actually love a power run game and great defensive battles. I would admit that high scoring affairs are exciting, (2017 Rose Bowl for example), but there is something about slowly imposing your will upon your opponent.
