Why can 18 year olds be considered responsible enough to vote for President, join the military and fight in a war for us, open credit accounts, buy a home, get married, buy cigarettes, but not buy a drink?

I may be wrong, but I heard that 18 yr olds can buy and consume alcohol as long as it is on base?

I don't see an issue if laws apply the same as alcohol. Unless your Maurice Clarett and drinking a bottle of grey goose during practice I don't see a problem here.
