I totally agree with Trevor Lawrence. These athletes are in a much safer environment than they would be back home on the streets. As he said, they have motivation to stay safe at their schools--football camps. I guarantee, they are far fewer with Covid 19 now than there were before they all reported a few weeks ago. Plus 98% of them have far better health care and probably 100% get better nutrition. I heard the UAB athletic director discussing how good the medical care of their athletes is compared to the general public. When they do a covid test, they get the results the next day. And think about all the kids that wont ever go to college if we shut this down. And, its not just football. How many of these football players end up in jail if we send them home? How many more pregnant girls with no father. Stick you head in the sand and that is what you get. If you want to talk about long term side affects from the virus. What about long term side affects from playing football, or other sports. Why are we worried about Covid, but these are injuries are OK. Its all bull crap.
Even if the season is canceled the players are not getting sent home. They will remain on campus, train, be housed, be fed, and continue with classes to retain their scholarship.
No one is sending them packing back home

Exactly. Not discrediting Lawrence's point because it does have merit. It just ignores the fact that without football, the players should still be on campus and will still have access to the medical staffs.

I think to this point, the difference is injuries are a known risk, while long term health impacts from Covid are still not entirely known. Are schools ready to commit long term medical care for players that contract it? Or will they argue there's not way to prove the player contracted it through athletic activities? My guess is the latter.
