College sports is and should always be about amateur athletics. The cost of college has certainly risen alongside the increase in athletic revenue from the NCAA. The cost of a scholarship and everything that goes into support of a player is astronomical, even at smaller universities. Simply because the system is more profitable now than in the past doesn't mean the "labor force" is more entitled to larger wages, which I’d argue they are already receiving in spades comparatively to decades past

So the players aren't entitled to "larger wages" yet you mention nothing about HCs getting larger wages, based on the Eras that you referenced above my guess is that Top HCs made $75K back then and yet the top HCs make $9 million now

You find religion when the Players want larger wages to coincide with the Billions in TV-Radio Money that has been pumped into the P5 colleges, but the coaches can get their larger wages and you didn't even mention that aspect at all

Hmm I wonder why?

Players = student-athletes

Coaches = employees

The labor force includes both, but the model has always paid one with. Salary and the other with scholarship and other perks.

That is the model. Players are no more exploited now than at any point. There is just much more money, so players are changing a narrative to attempt to get their Perceived share.

It isn't hard. CfB still exists and people still watch if the athlete on the field ends up being a little slower or capable than the ones we have now. I'd rather watch a young group of men who want to be there and fully appreciate the opportunity... without an added sense of entitlement. They are 18-22 men. Frame it as an internship if you want; they are receiving much more value than is fair to the average student working multiple jobs and incurring 60k+ debt just to get through school. Pay your dues now and get paid later.

It may even improve the quality of the game.
