quote:
How much money do regular students bring to the universities? What is their economic value to the universities? You are being myopic
I have no idea
But we all have a very good idea of how much Money the 100 FB & MBB Players bring in, not to mention the free TV exposure and "Goodwill" that they generate for the University
Why not just admit the obvious, Revenue Athletes are different from regular students
There's no way that 85 regular Undergrads could combine to do ANYTHING ON THIS PLANET that could result in an Academic Dept Head earning $9million dollars per year, if that doesn't show you how different these Revenue Athletes are, then nothing will

The WSU player who supposedly recorded his conversation with his coach.
WA is a TWO PARTY state
Did he announce his intention to record the call and get permission from his coach?

No way a minor league football league makes as much money as college football does. No way
No one is going to give a shite. Period. For whatever reason people care about LSU vs. Bama and will watch. People don't care as much about the name on the back as much as the name on the front
Now the players might get a salary for 20 to 40 thousand a year, but that probably isn't the equivalent of a scholarship at a power 5 school.
I think these players are making a huge miscalculation of how much playing for a school with a huge following benefits them. Its basically free marketing and exposure to millions and millions of people across the country.
I really wonder if a player like Johnathan Taylor from Wisconsin would have been anything if he had to play for the Sioux City Raiders class A minor league team (or even made it to one)
