Imagine playing a bowl in Lincoln in January though?

It would suck but Nebraska and Oklahoma players were accustomed to playing in frigid weather and their offenses were better suited for it. If all those Nebraska / Oklahoma vs. Miami / FSU games in the ‘80s and ‘90s had been played somewhere in the midwestern plains on 1/1 the outcome might have been different a time or two.
Passing would be harder and sticking your nose in a pile to stop a physical running game in bone chilling weather wouldn’t feel real good.
