The SEC doesn't care about any of the schools. They care about money and placing themselves in the best position for a marquee SEC CG, NY6 bowls and CFP contention.

If Bama is the favorite in the West and already scheduled to play the favorite in the East during the regular season, why risk increasing the odds for a mulligan match or further attrition if not required. As it has become evident around here, that some don't like watching mulligan games.

Its seems a better hedge to avoid the scenario if the SEC wants max teams in the best position at the end of the year.

Yes, so let's just have Bama play Vandy or Arkansas all 10 games so we can be sure to have them in Atlanta.
