We also don't know that lsu would have beaten grambling last year but you can probably look at both teams bodies of work and make an educated guess on which team was better.

Meh. You can play contrarian all you want to, but what can't be ignored is that they're in the game if they beat Alabama in Atlanta. The final score in that game was 32-28 and Georgia fell just five or six yards short of the end zone in the final seconds of the SEC Championship Game.

Alabama was up 28-0 on Notre Dame at halftime and the final was 42-14. They didn't have the horses on the line of scrimmage to compete with either Alabama or Georgia. The Bulldogs would have eventually outphysicaled the Irish at the point of attack and that would have been all she wrote.
