They eliminated two management positions where I worked (as a poker room supervisor). Even though my position was safe because of seniority, I volunteered to be one of the ones to be laid off. In return, my company agreed to pay my insurance through July, one of my buddies that would have been laid off since he had the least amount of seniority was able to keep his job and it has given me time to start my own Medicare insurance company while collecting unemployment until my commissions start coming in.

Plus, because of the coronavirus, CMS changed the rules that no longer require agents to meet their clients face-to-face. Applications can now be done on the internet or phone. That change alone has opened up my area from just within driving distance to the entire state. It has also changed the amount of time to sign a client up for a plan from approximately 2-3 WEEKS to 1-2 HOURS. And I never have to leave the house (unless a local client prefers a face-to-face appointment). Plus, it is really cool getting paid very well to help people. Win, win all the way around. I'm expecting my yearly income to double at a minimum. My income should grow each year because it pays residuals every year a client re-enrolls. For example, 400 clients re-enrolling pays over $100k just in residuals.
