When is the SEC office going to be forced to move out of the state that elected George Wallace it's governor during the civil rights years? It seems that they would be anxious to move now that they've decided that the flag in Mississippi was bad enough to forbid championships from being played in those schools

Beautiful!

The Metro Atl Area has plenty of prime Office Space, and the employees will probably like the local schools and the overall feel of the Metro Atl Area

Was Lester Maddox the South's Most Racist Governor?

Maddox, Georgia's 75th governor during the civil rights era, wouldn't allow blacks into his resturant, which is now a part of Georgia Tech's campus. Even threatened them with pickax handles.

quote:

Lester Garfield Maddox Sr. (September 30, 1915 – June 25, 2003) was an American politician who served as the 75th Governor of the U.S. state of Georgia from 1967 to 1971. A populist Democrat, Maddox came to prominence as a staunch segregationist[1] when he refused to serve black customers in his Atlanta restaurant, in violation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

quote:

Maddox said that he would close his restaurant rather than serve African Americans. An initial group of black demonstrators came to the restaurant but did not enter when Maddox informed them that he had a large number of black employees. In April 1964, more African Americans attempted to enter the restaurant. Maddox confronted the group with a bare pickaxe handle.
