The civil war was about states rights. The common states rights issue at the time was, of course, slavery. So yes and no. The confederates were not wrong about their love and belief in states rights but slavery is wrong

The secession amendments from many states
(Texas SC and MS) let you know it was about.....their right for slavery. Sorry for your loss
