re: If plays were reviewable say 1980 until 2005 or whenever it was instituted.

Now I have to go back and watch that game from 2000. Fortunately it is on YouTube.
Went back and looked. Toefield’s TD was early in the 1st quarter. No good camera angle to really see exactly when to ball came loose. It did look like he got the ball over the goal line before he fumbled, but it is all but impossible to confirm. If we had today’s cameras and angles, there would have been a definitive shot. It was certainly close.
As to the winning MSU TD in 1999, it was the last play of the game and the replay was definitive the player was down. But that is how the cookie crumbles.
