Fun fact that I forgot about. Thomas Jefferson's tombstone is also on MU's campus near the statue. Mizzou was the first university established on land bought from the Louisiana purchase. I am glad they kept the statue, it is a cool unique part of our campus

Columbia MO also had the first Freddy's Steakburger I ever ate at, thank God I wasn't footing the bill for that eight dollar chili dog
