quote:You are talking two different places! Kirby is at UGA. One of the top recruiting States and all the other top recruiting States near by or borders Georgia! Orgeron was at Ole Miss! Did badly there. Saban was at Michigan State! Not a Powerhouse school and still not a top program. So you tell me if Kirby was at Ole Miss. or at Michigan State to begin his career would've been better?
Saban won his first title in his 10th as a head coach ,
O did it in his 6th
Also Drinkwitz at Appalachian State went 12-1 as a first timer and that is impressive. Now he is at Missouri I do not think he can repeat that at Missouri in his first year there. Missouri does not have the talents to compete against Florida, Georgia and some others but he probably can win one or two like he did against South Carolina and North Carolina. That is what Kirby Smart couldn't do with all that talents! He should have won a National title by now!

Wait. I'm confused.
I've been told how bad UGA is because of 1980 and all.
But you are making it sound like championships grow on peachtrees.
Which is it?

I'm saying that experience counts, no matter where you coach. You make mistakes in your first HC job. Just because KS got his at UGA doesn't mean he doesn't have to learn how to be a head coach.
Took Dabo 8 1/2 seasons at Clemson.
You really think Saban would have won a title so quickly if Alabama was his first HC job?
What about O at LSU?
To just ignore all the facts is short sighted.
