In 2010, he beat UGA and Florida in the same year, in only his second year following the disastrous Croom years. Not banner years for either school by any means, but teams with way more talent.

A decent accomplishment. 2010 wasn’t just “not a banner year” it’s the worst UGA team in a quarter century.

In 2014, he beat #8 LSU, #6 Texas A&M, and #2 Auburn... three games in a row.

Using rankings from the time of the game? Come on. None of those teams were top 10 teams.

In 2017, he beat a more-talented but poorly coached #12 LSU 37-7 before losing to Georgia 31-3 and Auburn 49-10, probably due to his lackluster recruiting and program building even by his ninth year, another point I made in my original post.

Again with the day of game rankings...he was not just overwhelmed by UGA talent that day. Kirby clowned him from start to finish. How bout that call for the first UGA TD? Pretty good game planning and coaching..

Mullen is a solid coach, Kirby is also, both have their strengths. People never give credit for the good gameday decisions their own coaches make and always overstate that of their opponents.

Both coaches are going to feel increasing pressure to “get over the hump” but it’s helpful to keep in mind that Kirby already got over a few humps Mullen is still struggling with.
