So Bama has 1 NC and AU has 3 (1983, 1993, 2004) and LSU has 2.

LSU has two legitimate BCS titles this decade BUT did the AP or BCS/UPI award AU the NC in 1983, 1993, or 2004? I admit that AU had an awesome team in 1983 and 2004 but y'all got screwed just like we got screwed in the past by Notre Dame. Lets not even talk about 1993 because y'all were on probation so that's not even up for debate!

As for Bama, every NC starting with 1961 are legitimate no matter what fans say because all of them were awarded by either the AP or Coaches and in some years, both awarded us the title. Yes we lost our bowl game in 1964 but the NC was awarded back then before the bowl games were played. Y'all may not like it but we were awarded the title!

Like another poster stated, we were screwed a few times as well when we were undefeated and the clear #1 team in the nation.

I still say Bama has one NC because that is all I have seen.

After recounting, AU has 4. They were pretty good in '88 too so I think I am gonna give them one that year.

So, NC: AU 4, Bama 1.

You are usually a pretty good poster but you are either smoking something right now or just trying to get under the skin of some Bama fans.

I'm not even going to debate something that is in the record books. I have been old enough to witness Bama get awarded 1 NC but AU has NEVER been AWARDED a NC in my lifetime.

BTW, I have witnessed something I thought would never happen and that is the 6 in a row so congrats on that great accomplishment!

1925-Untied, undefeated, Rose Bowl Champions
1926-8-0 Regular season, tied Stanford in the Rose Bowl.
1930-Untied, undefeated, Rose Bowl Champions (shutout)
1934-Untied, undefeated, Rose Bowl Champions
1941-I do not claim 1941.
1961-Untied, undefeated, Sugar Bowl Champions
1964-AP awards us the title. I claim it, lol.
1965-AP, Orange Bowl Champions
1973-I do not claim 1973.
1978-AP,Sugar Bowl Champions (Goal Line Stand)
1979-Unanimous, untied, undefeated, Sugar Bowl Champions
1992-Unanimous, untied, undefeated, Sugar Bowl Champions

Alabama DOES NOT claim:

1945-Untied, undefeated, Rose Bowl Champions (beatdown USC)
1966-Untied, undefeated, Sugar Bowl Champions (beatdown Nebraska)

So by my count, 12

Like I said earlier, I'm not going to debate something that is in the NCAA record book. How can you or anyone else legitimately argue about NCs that WAS AWARDED by legitimate source for that era? I know some of them are BS but 7 of them were awarded by the AP/UPI.

I know you put a lot of effort and thought into that reply...

I'll try my best to explain why we claim what we do. What exactly do you not understand? There may be teams with better records for various years, but that does not make them better. That would be like, heaven forbid, someone 20 years from now looking back and saying that Hawaii was better than LSU (simply because they had a better record.) 7 of our titles are AP or UPI titles. 5 more are ROSE BOWL titles, the default MNC game back in the day.

So what years do you have a problem with? Or better yet, you tell me who deserved those titles more than us. That will be a start.

they have 2 legit championships

I have only seen 1 in my lifetime of being aware of and watching football, so that is all I am sure of.

So Bama has 1 NC and AU has 3 (1983, 1993, 2004) and LSU has 2.

Hypocrisy? You will count Auburn's undefeated years but not Alabama's? Alabama has had 8 UNTIED, UNDEFEATED, BOWL CHAMPIONSHIP teams.

pretty sure the aubbie was fricking with ya.

but alas...

"Some quick facts to summarize the myth:

Alabama has two legitimate, undisputed championships.

The 1941 "championship" is a downright embarrassment to claim - and if you're the kind of person who can attempt to argue that, you should be shouted down and escorted from the room immediately.

The '73 championship is a joke. How can you lose to Notre Dame in the bowl game and claim this when, once again, 3 teams finish ahead in the final polls with better records?

The '78 championship is just as ridiculous - losing to USC in the regular season, and the Trojans have a better record at the end of the season?"

I personally do not claim '41 or '73. If I was Mal Moore I would take those flags down and replace them with ones from '45 and '66 (see my post above.)

As for 1978, USC finished with a blemish on their record as well. Alabama and USC split the AP and UPI titles. The AP voters thought that at the end of the year, after the goal line stand against Penn St, that we were the better team. I have no problem admitting that this is a shared title.

Debating history is ok, but for some people to act like we don't deserve our titles is crazy. Alabama has earned 12, one way or the other.

I have only seen one, so I am going with one.

AU 4 NCs, Bama 1.

AU still gets the benefit of the doubt in '88 cuz I really liked that team.
