That whole episode proved it's better to pay great money for a short-term recruiter/assistant coach and do a real coaching search the following year than go with a long term investment in a questionable hire. Promoting Joe Kines for an unofficial one year and then hiring Spurrier would've been better than what transpired.

True....Hiring Joe for that one year should have been the plan. He may have stopped that inside trap. Joe had already filled in for the Hogs when they replace their HC after the 1st game (I think it was the 1st game).
