WWL (870 AM out of New Orleans) is credited for spreading LSU to the masses back in the day. I understand you could catch those night football games in the 50's over most of the continental US. It was called Clear Channel stations (not the current media group), you'd have a powerful radio transmitter and nobody else on that channel. They cranked it up higher at night, too.
