I agree. My alma mater is in the same region as Bessemer City and they are usually an awful team. 8-3 there with a playoff appearance is a good season.
What is unusual is Zow stepped down without taking another job. After that type of season and with his name, he would be in high demand should Bessemer City not be the right place for him.

You really don't pay attention to prep football do you? They are far from an awful program and the most wins in that region. And have made the playoffs 7 straight times.
But there has to be more to this story. After successful stops at Calera and Montevallo he will get picked up
