I don't want to do something just to do something. RC has his program built to sustain success. It's a lot more fun to win 35-40 games a year and participate in the postseason every single year. If we have a target we feel comfortable with that gives us a shot to take the next step then we should do it. If not, then I don't want to be South Carolina.

Peak Ray Tanner
10 - 54-16 National Champs
11 - 55-14 National Champs
12 - 49-20 Runner Up
--
Chad Holbrook (groomed at UNC and UofSC)
13 - 43-20 Won Regional (step back but not bad)
14 - 44-18 Lost your own regional
15 - 32-25 Missed regional for the first time since a long arse time
16 - 46-18 Bounced back and fell just short of Omaha again
17 - 35-25 this MF missed the tourney again

Mark Kington (program builder see Illinois St & South Florida)
18 - 37-26 Nice start - won regional
19 - 28-28 Oh frick we're .500?!
20 - 7-4 things arent looking good (lose series to Northwestern & Clemson)

Personally I feel we underachieve in baseball more than football. If we don’t have the money available to go after a bigger name and only can go for mid major types then I guess I agree with you, I just feel like it’s unlikely we hire someone and fall completely off. I don’t see a ton of risk in making a change at this point.

We are smack dab in the middle of probably the third best recruiting area in the country (behind south FL and southern CA) pour tons of resources into our program, and are one of a pretty small number of schools that do so and have a fanbase that truly gives a shite about baseball. I realize it’s made harder by the conference we play in, I just see years where we are on the fence for a regional as a pretty massive failure. We have been poor at developing position player talent for all of RCs tenure and he has never shown signs of improving. Maybe the new hitting coach is the answer and we will start to see some results as the year goes on
