As long as Big 12 teams routinely make the playoffs with one loss, I don’t think the SEC should change anything. The current setup allows us to get two teams in.
If the rest of college football wasn’t so shitty relative to the SEC, and the committee was willing to rank a two loss SEC team over a one less team from another conference, I’d be for the three permanent opponents and then rotating 5 other model.

To be clear, the “roommate switch” idea floated around for years, where you have changing divisions, does allow for two teams to make the playoff, but I never liked their selections for permanent opponents.
