Team wasn't willing to pay him more than about $550k before hearing what's in the new CBA. Gressel wanted more and didn't want to wait. DC was willing to offer him ~$750k+.

I think everything you posted here is sound reasoning...that doesn't make losing those guys hurt any less though, strictly from a fan's standpoint.

We've all (mostly) watched this team shape, and win from the start and seeing all of our loved, favorite players get traded away just stings. There's very few guys remaining from when the team was formed. I get that not everyone will be there forever, but it still hurts the heart to lose them.

Really looking forward to next week when AUFC comes to Birmingham to get a nice up close and personal look of both teams.
