It works both ways. LSU has lost a several players in the portal. Kelvin joseph went to Kentucky for instance. Now, whether Joseph ends up being the "missing piece" to uk being able to compete with the big-time programs in the sec is highly doubtful. Why? Bc Kentucky has far less talent overall compared to programs like LSU, bama, etc...however, it is good for the athletes to get a fresh start at a new program to possibly make something or their career, where they probably wouldn't get the opportunity to start at the program they transfered from. In short, the portal was created to help the student athletes make the most of their college careers and find the best fit for them to maximize their potential. If a player believes it's in their best interest to leave a lesser program like Wake Forest to go to a better one like uga, then that's a good thing in my opinion. It works both ways though. There are players that enter the portal all the time that leave a big-time program where they aren't playing much to go to another where they will get a better chance to play. This has all happened way before the portal was created though is my point. The portal was just a way to make it more efficient and more organized...that's all it is for.
