There are plenty of good players that can compete with some SEC teams including Arkansas. The problem was Barry Odom did a bad job as a head coach. Little to no offense was due to bad offense coordinator and a quarterback that was clueless at times and bad OL coach.

Two keys for Arkansas are to get very good players and have good depth to compete with the rest of the SEC.

Which is why we got lucky in hiring exactly who we should have hired. We didn't need an offensive mastermind to leverage our talent into a shot at the SEC West. We needed someone who could get the talent on campus in the first place.

So far that has been Pittman. He's worked like crazy to land players since he got here and with a full year to work on recruits we should be in pretty good shape with next year's class. His staff is topped off with recruiters that cover the entire South, not just Texas.

Pittman probably won't be the guy to return Arkansas back to national football prominence. But, with luck, he could very well be the guy that builds the program up to where we can have a shot at it. While I hope he has more success he might very well be what Coach O was at Ole Miss. A guy who didn't have a ton of on the field success but left a team stocked to the gills with talented players.
