Well briles definitely has SOME air raid in his offense. I mean his dad got his start under leach so let’s calm down on the lies there dale I know it’s tough but let’s stick to the truth

Let’s not forget Oklahoma and Texas have beaten Georgia Alabama and Auburn in recent years in New Years 6 bowls. So it’s not like he sec just shuts down big 12 offenses everytime they face them. And Riley losing to Georgia in the rose bowl didn’t have anything to do with Riley’s offense

Art Briles may have coached under Leach but he does not at all run the air raid.

Briles roots are the veer, single wing, option type stuff and then uses simple, wide open spread and effective passing concepts off of that base. He loves the run. Air raid, by its very name, loves the pass.

It's kind of how Guss began as a single wing guy and based the Wildcat off of that.
If you read that thread the other day going into great detail on the Briles offense, it's weakness is against teams trained to stop the option, like the service academies.

The air raid's weakness is playing against elite speed and physicality that many SEC defenses posses.

Riley is an air raid dude. Always has been. People argue over if the "veer and shoot" is a variation of the air raid. I personally would say yes. Briles coached under leach and just so happens to use heavily the four verts concept and wide splits(just with WRs) but like many other guys who came up under Leach they want more power running. Riley Dana Briles all go about this differently IMO. I'm pretty sure Dana was the guy who was first using the diamond formation back at okie state

I think that's what throws people off. You can watch Leach and then one of his many disciples and all the offenses look different enough they don't even seem the same at their core. Hell Leach doesn't even run the first variation of the offense despite being the guy who popularized it.

It's not like watching navy air force or army play.
