I don't understand why people seem hellbent on wanting to expand, it's not liek the system we have doesn't work. The first year in 2014 is really the only time you can legitimately make a case they didn't make a right choice for 1 of the 4 spots. Every other year they've gotten it exactly right. We don't need more computers, we don't need the BCS, and we dont' need 8 teams. It's working just fine as is.

I agree. I don't think there will be 8 teams every year worthy of playing for the national championship

The point I'm making is even with 2 games left to play, we have a scenario in which there are EIGHT teams with legit resumes for FOUR spots. No part of me thinks Georgia can beat LSU or Minnesota can beat Ohio St, but I also didn't believe Arizona st would beat Oregon until there was about 4 minutes left in that game.
There is a case to be made that teams that, although they could win a title, do not deserve to have a chance at it. I mostly agree with it. at 8 teams, I would say probably almost every year there will be 1-2 who really dont deserve to have a chance to win the national title after their regular season, but I do think its more important to give every team that does deserve a shot their chance.
UCF may not have been up to the challenge of winning 3 straight agsinst top10 teams a few years ago, but its absolute garbage to say they didnt deserve the chance.
While 4 teams is a massive improvement over 2 teams, its ridiculous that the top division in college football is the only sport in America that leaves so much of the control for determining a national champion to the conversations of retired old people.
Sooner or later something crazy like the OP is going to happen and it doesnt have to.
