Same question...why on earth would you assume he'd still be a first-round pick?

It's just my opinion, but no way a team takes him in the first. Too much guaranteed money for a guy who has been plagued by injuries. I don't even think they'll take him in the second if he can't work out for them.

I'm not saying that he'll come back, but the family might believe that it's worth it if he can prove he can stay healthy for a full season

Given this is late in the year, he might not fully recover in time (5 months) for the draft

If you're NE or NO or one of those other types with a HOF QB on the absolute tail end of his career and picking in the 30s, why wouldn't you take a chance on Tua and let him get healthy for ~2 years before he ever sees the field?

We've seen Willis McGahee go in the first and have a long career. Willis couldn't work out.

I agree. Right now I don't even see him being drafted in the first 4 rounds. The contract for this year's first pick in the 4th round was less than $1M per year...a 4 year contract with a total value of $3.3M Taxes will take a huge chunk. He may end up with only a total of $500,000 net per year for four years. Granted, some of that would be a signing bonus.

The last player taken in the 1st got $10M.

You may want to look again at that guaranteed money after the 18th selection.
