Joe Flacco has a neck injury. This will be Brandon's first start and first regular season game.

Has stuck around 4 years as a back up. Not many even do that. Hope he has a great game, and propels this into a big back up contract somewhere, or quasi starter like colt McCoy has somehow been able to do.

His senior year was the best play I've seen from any arkansas QB. Didn't have the elite tools others had, but just a very smart QB, and had just enough tools in every department to put on a clinic.

I'm actually excited to watch a Broncos game for the first time in a while! I hope BA lights it up so I'll have some fellow BA fans amongst my Bronco brethren.

Maybe he'll be good enough to supplant Flacco, that dude has really gone to shite

I really hope he lights it up as well. I expect a semi pro mallet type performance without the picks. Maybe 200+ yards. A td. MAYBE 2, and a pick. Probably Low attempt amounts. 57% comp.

That would be a very normal back up QB type performance.

I really hope though he is accurate. Throws on the run well, and scores a few TDs with the skill guys making a few plays to pad his stats making him seem better than he is. That would be the best outcome for his first start.

BA really has a major opportunity here.

Joe Flacco has worn out his welcome in Denver, not only by sucking on the field but by attacking the coaching staff in post-game PCs. His injury will keep him out at least a few weeks, at most the rest of the season. The fans have totally turned on him.

Then there's the drafted "franchise QB" Drew Lock. He has been injured, but hasn't been ahead of BA on the depth chart YET, even before he got hurt.

Everyone expected this season to be a Flacco "last-hurrah" while Lock learned the NFL game as the #2 QB behind him while Allen slowly phased out, but Lock just never materialized and has floundered and got hurt. It didn't help the matter that while Lock was floundering, Allen was looking like a starting QB in practice.

Now Denver has all 3 of their "backup" QBs available since Lock isn't still too injured to play, and BA still got the start while Lock isn't even his backup, he's 3rd string.

It'll be interesting. Someone in Denver believes in Allen more than our future franchise QB Drew Lock.

Really hope he shows out but his teammate Chris Harris didn't seem to be positive about it.

I picked up the Browns D in fantasy because the Saints are on a bye and that was the best option. He's going to get sacked at least 5 times, so it's a pretty safe bet from a fantasy D standpoint. I'm expecting a 200-250 yards, 1 TD, & 1-2 turnovers kind of game from him. I think he'll play very conservatively, lean heavily on the run game, and shouldn't turn the ball over more than once if he makes good decisions. Wouldn't be too surprised if he doesn't turn the ball over at all but also wouldn't be surprised if he throws 2 picks trying to keep the team in the game. I think best case scenario he ends up with a stat line like 330 yards, 3TDs, and 1 pick, with success pushing the ball down the field, and converting 3rd down red zone TDs once the run game gets stuffed on 1st and 2nd down.

I really hope brandon lights it up, and we see some 2015 Brandon materialize in the pros. I would love to have a football team I can root for again.

*Update* Joe Flacco is out for the season. Brandon Allen still set to start. If he does well he will likely have the opportunity to start every game for the rest of this season LINK

He's doing about as well as expected so far, Denver fans are loving a mobile QB that can throw on the run and pick up yards with his legs. His two TD passes will make highlight reels this week on ESPN.

Brandon Allen
7/12 | 125 YDS | 2 TDs | 0 INT
2 CAR | 16 YDS | 8 AVG | 2 1ST DN
*Halftime

He's led the Broncos to a 17-12 lead at the half. 17 points so far in this game is more than the Broncos have scored in their previous 3 games.

He's made a couple bad throws but that's to be expected in his first start, and he's made up for it by picking up first downs with his legs. His WRs and TE are showing out for him and playing with a lot more energy, rumor for weeks has been that most of them despised Flacco.

BA leads the Broncos on another scoring drive and the RB Lindsay punches it in to put them up 24-12 at the end of the 3rd.
