Plenty of HCs call the play themselves including some pros. That isn't the issue. Maybe minimal but HC calling playsbis no differu than an OC. Dan called the plays 90 percent of the time and still does.

It isn't the issue, but creating plays designed to find mismatches, plays that are designed to slowly get a true freshman into a system, plays to get the ball in your best players hands, are. If our line can't block, how about some quick throws. How about coaching the RB how to pick up a blitz. Find the hot read. not 7 step drops and try to go through 3 progressions.

Sure they do. Lets look at the premier programs, Does Saban call plays? Did Meyer? Does Swinney? Champion coaches manage, sure Mullen called the plays, no champion ship yet as head coach! Saban, Meyer Swinney Yes

An OC job is full time to do it right. Ditto the head coach.
