I like him too but everything is stable right now and Gus’s status won’t really be up to him anyway and it looks increasingly unlikely a change will happen soon. If he goes then now isn’t the worst timing.

But he has seemed like a good fit so far. Made some key extensions happen, navigated an awkward situation with Bruce and Leath, and has allegedly done some critical work on fundraising for the FOF. Seems like our student athletes are staying out of trouble and the programs seem happy. I’d like to keep him around

Ten years ago, would've been a no brainer for him to leave. USC is a big job, compensated to live in LA would be nice, but widely publicized, much to their sports fans frustration, that they've got financial issues and are not looking to make major moves in athletics in the near-term. I think he stays for the security and balance he's got right now, time to keep improving.
