Don't know, but I've seen a Jaguar kill and eat a 'Gator on National Geographic.

It was a crocodile or more likely a caiman. Only two types of alligators in the world: American and Chinese. Neither live in jaguar country.
That said, I'd say if:
1. Tiger ambushes gator; tiger wins
2. Gator ambushes Tiger; toss up
3. Tiger and Gator knowingly engage each other... Tiger wins the majority.

No you didn't. Where Jaguars live, there are no alligators; instead, there are caimans (very small, related to alligators).
Face to face, a tiger going up against a 16-ft alligator, hmmm...going with the gator.
