Saban made is clear why he wanted to keep things simple (vanilla) for the front-7 vs SC and it's been re-explained to you quite well by others itt. It's a temporary measure that was taken for that game and more stunts, blitzes, etc. will be implemented going forward. But you still don't seem to get that.

What I don't get, at this point, is your comfort zone for our defensive sample size. This isn't just a 3 game issue, this is an 18 game issue now. Last season we tried to put it under poor comminication between Mack Wilson and our DCs, whoever they happened to be at the time. That would be the same Mack Wilson starting for the Cleveland Browns last night as a rookie and he didn't look lost or exposed. The middle of our defense was being exposed and teams were walking the ball down our throat, who couldn't even get that stuff done against lesser defenses on their schedule? Arkansas, for example. How did all those spread teams continue to expose the middle of our defense with Dylan Moses, Mack Wilson and we also had the 3rd pick in the draft, Q-man, sitting there at NT making All-American. SC was watching the same tapes, obviously.

Something is amiss. And we've been watching something against these HUNH RPO teams the last 2 seasons now that has reached the point of astonishment to me as a lifelong Bama fan back to coach Bryant.

These failures are looking like scheme issues against teams who have much less talent. If a Muschamp offense can pick up where Clemson left off, with, ironically, another TF QB, we will see plenty more where this came from. Unfortunately.

It seems to me that our DC and Saban actually do have a clue. Maybe you can't admit you've overracted. Try exercising some patience for the next few games while our new young front-7 players are learning on the job.

The next HUNH RPO team that Golding checks down will be the first. I suggest we all break out the popcorn.

No its not.

That Jets offense last night was probably worse than South Carolina's.

But it didn't...

If you want to panick and blame Golding's and Saban's defensive acumen and schemes as being poor, ineffective or obsolete and throw Golding under the bus that's your perogative. But it's also my perogative to not worry excessively about things I can't control or influence. I'm content to watch, wait and see how Bama's defense performs and progresses over the course of the season. So, I won't waste any more time and energy trying to talk you off the ledge.
