Not every athlete is an jock without a plan. While most want to get to the League, most understand they need a fall back plan by earning a degree.
Go to the 'farm league' and not receive an education...then what?
Now you're X years removed from high school, with no money saved, and back in the same boat of needing an education to help create a career. So now you get to, most likely, create debt for yourself trying to get back on par to create a foundation for yourself.
Absolutely, the schools put the players on the map because of their prestige and tradition...but it also can work to a players advantage down the road.

That is exactly my point, and why I kind of think both sides are full of sh1t. You can't have it both ways, and you can't just do it half way without it ending in disaster with Title IX thank you gubment.
You either keep the current system, find an NCAA competitor that colleges are willing to move to that pays ALL players, or you remove college athletics as a competitive entity. Any other solution is doing nothing but paving the way for a total breakdown resulting in one of the original three options.
