UGA during the resurgence of the SEC was definitely a power player under Richt, but he just didn't win a national title. You can say that is an unrealistic bar, but 4 other SEC teams did in that stretch, 5 if you go back to Tennessee.

So rivalry games, seccg, and playoff games do or don’t matter?

not as much, no. Ask Alabama how important the SEC championship game was in 2011 or 2017.
Ask Alabama how meaningful "a playoff game" is for 2018.

Rivalry games... seriously?
That's big, if you're not playing for anything else that season.

BCS (2 team playoff) started in '98, evolved to 4 team playoffs in 2014.
You're in the SEC. You claim to be in the "Big 6" of the conference. SEC teams have won the title 11 times in that span. Alabama 5 times, LSU and Florida twice apiece, Auburn once, Tennessee once.
That's winning the game that matters.
